Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 owners whose units were affected by the bootloop issue triggered after the update to build .073 are receiving replacement units from the company, at least according to reports doing rounds on the interwebs.

The update in question arrived in March, with a bunch of users reporting that their handsets couldn’t go past the boot logo after installing the firmware.

Asus took time before actually coming out to acknowledge the ZenFone Max Pro M2 bootloop issue, promising early last month that a fix is in the works and that it would be released once ready.

Not long after, it emerged that there wasn’t much that Asus could do to fix the bootloop issue on the Max Pro M2 other than replacing the motherboard of the handset. Of course, this needed a visit to the service center, but this was not possible for many due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of this writing, though, it seems things are getting back to normal as multiple ZenFone Max Pro M2 owners whose units were affected by the bootloop issue are reporting that Asus is sending them replacement units.

Received new handset, with latest security patch, today. Only handset no other accessories however I am delighted that Asus took this step to keep the faith of users.

Thank you ASUS India I got my swapped handset of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 (Swap handset Device is totally new) against Hang on Asus logo after .073 March OTA firmware update. It took more than 3 months to replace the device which is too much frustrating. I got only the device, no ther accessories or the Box. Hope other users who are facing this same problem may get their handset repair asap.

It is worth noting that replacement units are only going out to those who actually sent back their faulty units to the service centers, so be sure to do the same in case your ZenFone Max Pro M2 handset is also affected by the bootloop issue.

Apparently, it doesn’t look like an expired warranty will stop you from getting a replacement unit because the issue in question is as a result of an official software update by Asus.
