Asus must probably be one of the most hated smartphone brands right now, at least by owners of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and its successor, the ZenFone Max Pro M2.

These two are yet to receive their stable treats to Android 10 operating system and its frustrating device owners big time. The software has undergone beta testing for months but still no sign of the stable release as I write this.

Despite the challenges the company is facing, it remains adamant that when the stable ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 update begins rolling out, everyone will forget all the painful wait they had to stomach for months.

How this pans out remains to be seen, especially following recent developments regarding a number of Android 10 feature requests that have been turned down by the company.

Features like slow-motion video recording, VoWiFi, native call recording and native video calling won’t be part of the update to Android 10. And apparently, not even the support for ARCore will be part of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 update when it arrives.

Matter of fact, it doesn’t look like the ZenFone Max Pro M1 will ever support ARCore, at least going by what a ZenTalk forum moderator recently said.

There is no plan to support Google AR core on ZB601KL. Thanks for your understanding.

Quite unfortunate for enthusiasts of augmented reality who happen to own the ZenFone Max Pro M1. You’ll have to switch to another device that has ARCore capabilities, among them Oppo Find X2/X2 Pro, Reno3 Pro, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7.2, Moto G8, Samsung Galaxy M31/M21, and so on.

A techy. Besides phones, I also enjoy the farm, music, football, and, of course, food.
