The Android developer community never ceases to amaze. Even before you get a taste of the stable Android 10 update, someone already has a working Android 11 beta update for the ZenFone Max Pro M1.

Asus has kept ZenFone Max Pro M1 users waiting for ages for the stable Android 10 update to arrive. Beta testing has been ongoing for months without any notable success. It sure looks like we are getting close every day, but then nothing happens and it’s the same old story.

For a small shift, let’s welcome Android 11 beta to the ZenFone Max Pro M1, at least not from Asus developers. We both know the device will not be upgraded to Android 11 officially, so custom ROMs are the best you got.

Luckily, the developer community rarely disappoints, and thanks to a Google Pixel 2 Android 11 beta 1 firmware, ZenFone Max Pro M1 users can now enjoy features of the new OS on their aging device unofficially.

Below is the changelog of the initial release:

1 – Initial Release.
2 – Latest Corvus kernel by default.
3 – F2fs supported now (try and report)
4 – More smoothness hacks.
5 – Killed most log spams.
6 – Disabled Setup wizard.
7 – More LMK tuning and Fixed many symlinks (Goodix should be fixed now).
8 – Dropped NFC fully.

As usual with unofficial software, bugs can hardly be missed, and luckily, the developer behind this port has identified them for you so that you know what you are getting into.

– Hotspot (will be fixed after R vendor only kthanksbye)
– Pixel Oem Stuff like (lift up/double tap) uhh
– Ok Google Trigger
– Volte (R vendor)

The dev also notes that:

• #root if need superuser access.
• Don’t flash Magisk till proper support by Magisk developer.
• This is not GSI

It’s worth noting that this is not only the beta version of Android 11, but also the initial release of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 11 port. So be sure that you actually want this otherwise, sit back and wait for the stable Android 10 OTA update to arrive.
