[Updated] Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 beta update leaks before official release, Widevine L1 is back (Download link inside)

For three months now owners of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 have been waiting for Asus to wind up its beta testing exercise and roll out the stable version of Android 10 to the handset.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 touts a pure Android experience, something that should ease the software update process due to the reduced workload (only a few tweaks are made to AOSP). However, the road towards the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 stable update has been quite bumpy.

Asus recently revealed that the rollout had delayed after the beta testing team wasn’t impressed with the results. Of course, you don’t want a buggy software to come your way, so it’s okay that Asus is actually focusing on this.

A few days later, it emerged that Asus has plans of rolling out the stable version in mid-May. And ahead of this highly anticipated rollout, a stable build of the upcoming ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android 10 update has popped up online.

The leaked stable build carries firmware version 17.2017.2004.424 and is a target for model ZB601KL on the WW ROM. From the look of things, the leaked link seems official, but since it isn’t coming straight from Asus, there is room for skepticism.

The update bundles all Android 10 goodies alongside the April 2020 security patch. According to someone who has installed the leaked stable build, everything seems to be working fine.

Widevine L1 certification has reportedly now been enabled in this build as well. WiFi calling is also on board and the fingerprint scanner also seems okay.

IST: 06:32 pm: The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 users are still experiencing the Widevine L1 issue which has frustrated a lot of them. A user took to the forum stating that even after downgrading from the Android 10 beta, Widevine L1 is not restored.
