Asus has some of the best value for money smartphones. Not just in the top-tier market where the likes of ZenFone 6 hail from, but also the entry-level market that has the ZenFone Max Pro series holding on just fine.

To arrive at these affordable price tags, Asus has always had to cut a few corners here and there. From what it looks like, dropping the ZenFone 6 Netflix HDR support is one of those corners the company had to cut to keep the device’s price low.

For months now, owners of the device have been requesting for the addition of Netflix HDR support to the ZenFone 6. However, the company instead guaranteed support for HD streaming on not just Netflix, but also Amazon Prime Video.

In a couple of responses, Asus ZenTalk moderator has revealed that support for ZenFone 6 Netflix HDR streaming isn’t coming your way ever. As it stands, this isn’t something that can be addressed via a software update, so simply forget about it.

Apparently, the fact that the ZenFone 6 screen supports HDR10 doesn’t automatically make it possible to stream Netflix HDR content. Netflix has other requirements needed to support HDR – requirements that Asus doesn’t seem keen to meet.

As noted earlier, ZenFone 6 owners can make do with Netflix HD streaming, which is the best they get. On the brighter side, you can rest assured that Android 11 update is coming to this device, although the wait could go all the way to Q4 2020.
