This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (published on September 15, 2020) follows:

Asus ZenFone 5Z was released in 2018 with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The smartphone offers specs that can still be considered as cutting edge while the Android 10 update arrived for it way back in November 2019.

Asus has been providing the ZenFone 5Z with Android security updates ever since, however, users are now demanding Android 11 for the device. It was also reported that the ZenFone 5Z Android 11 and ZenUI 7 updates are under evaluation.

While updates are known to bring many new features, Asus has been providing a certain functionality to its devices along with the Android security updates. The VoWiFi support is now available for a bunch of Asus devices except for the Indian ZenFone 5Z variant.

The likes of Asus ZenFone 6, ROG Phone 2, ROG Phone 3, and more have received software updates to enable the VoWiFi support in multiple regions. However, a recent report suggests that the ZenFone 5Z might not get the same in India.

A concerned user took to the ZenTalk community forums asking about the availability of VoWiFi on the ZenFone 5Z. A moderator responded by saying that Indian carriers do not currently support VoWiFi on the ZenFone 5Z.

Thank you for your asking. If you want to ask about Vo-WiFi, no carrier in India supports Vo-WiFi in ZenFone 5Z.

This is a tad disappointing considering several flagship devices from Asus already have the VoWiFi support in India. Also, the ROG Phone 2 VoWiFi support is currently enabled on Reliance Jio while a moderator has stated that they are working to get it enabled on Airtel as well.

Hi,

VoWifi is working for Reliance Jio as of now. For Airtel we are working to get it enabled.

Hopefully, Asus brings the topic to the attention of Indian carriers so that the ZenFone 5Z VoWiFi support can be enabled in India soon. Meanwhile, you can check out our dedicated Asus section for more such stories.
