The Asus ROG Phone 5 is the latest entrant in the company’s ROG lineup. Designed for gamers, the phone packs Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line hardware.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and comes with ROG UI running on Android 11 out of the box. It is backed by 12GB of RAM and a massive 6,000mAh battery.
All in all, the ROG Phone 5 has all the features that make it one of the best gaming phones ever. But as we all know, nothing is perfect.
And the Asus ROG Phone 5 is no exception in this regard. A few weeks ago, several users started reporting that they were unable to record in-game voice when playing PUBG Mobile on the Asus ROG Phone 5.
When Im Screen Record my PUBG, I dont hear microphone voice. Already select microphone at screen recorder setting but still dont hear my voice. ASUS please help me solve this problem. This is very big issue. I cant make PUBG Content because of this. (Source)
I would just like to inform. That the screen recording not recording microphone input when in game microphone is on. This is not only the issue. But also my teammates are also “hearing feedbacks and their voice echoes on their end”. I believe this is also related to phone calls having echoes on the voice opposite end. Please take a look into this. (Source)
Having said that, a mod claimed that the issue persists even on Pixel phones, so most likely its a bug in the Android 11 AOSP code, however, the company is trying to crack it.
This is deal-breaking for game content creators since they cannot use the Asus ROG Phone 5 to record their gameplay. This results in the content creators losing out on subscribers and a ton of money.
Fortunately, in a follow-up comment, the community forum mod said that it will be fixed in the next FOTA.
However, it’s unclear when the update will begin rolling out. Asus might take somewhere between a few days or a few weeks before it seeds the update. Until then, users will have to live with the problem.
Several battery issues have also been plaguing Asus ROG Phone 5 users for the last few months, with some users reporting battery drain while others complain of slow charging not working.
We are keeping a keen eye on the in-game voice issue on the Asus ROG Phone 5 when playing PUBG Mobile as well as other issues, so stay tuned for further updates.
