New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 21, 2021) follows:
The Asus ROG Phone 3 is easily one of the best Android smartphones for those who love indulging in mobile gaming thanks to the high-end hardware and other gaming-oriented features on the device.
Asus launched the device with Android 10 pre-installed and its in-house ROG UI skin on top that offers certain features to enhance the gaming experience.
It was obvious that the company would seed Android 11 for the ROG Phone 3, however, Asus didn’t share a specific timeline for its availability.
Towards the start of the month, we had reported that Asus may kick-start the Android 11 beta program for the ROG Phone 3 soon. A mod had also confirmed that the latest Android version is being worked upon.
Cut to now, it seems Asus is finally ready to release the Android 11 beta for their 2020 gaming smartphone. A member from the Asus France ZenFone team has taken to Twitter to confirm that the beta program will go live today.
We’ve shared a screenshot of the individual’s tweet — translated from French — for reference:
Matter of fact, the ZenFone team member also shared a screenshot of the System Information page from their ROG Phone 3 running on Android 11. Check it out below.
Interested ROG Phone 3 users should be able to enroll in the Android 11 beta program shortly.
Previously, the Taiwanese OEM was beta testing Android 11 on the Asus ZenFone 6Z — Asus 6Z in India — which recently picked up the new Android version in stable form.
The ZenFone 6Z saw over a dozen beta updates before it bagged the stable version after a few months. This time around, we hope Asus seeds Android 11 a bit sooner for the ROG Phone 3.
That being said, we will post an update once the official announcement for the beta program goes live.
In the meantime, you can check out our dedicated tracker to know about the status of Android 11 for all eligible devices from Asus.
