Apple Music is a music app that helps users stream audio and video on their devices either on demand or through existing playlists.
It has a ‘Favorite Artist’ feature that allows users to basically follow their favorite artists to know when they have new releases or music.
However, the feature seems disruptive for some users making it not so quick and definitely not easy.
Apple Music new release alerts issue
Apple Music, the popular music streaming platform, launched the ‘New Music’ feature in iOS in 2020. This feature alerts users to new albums, EPs, and videos from their favorite artists.
However, the feature has not been working as expected for some users, as per reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

What’s the point of adding artists to your favourites if it’s not going to tell me when they release new music??

A number of reports have been shared on various platforms, including Reddit and Twitter, suggesting that Apple Music is not sending new release alerts or notifications for favorite artists.
This has caused frustration for some users, who are now turning to alternative platforms to track new music releases.
One such platform is MusicHarbor, which helps users stay on top of new music releases, music videos, events, and news from their favorite artists and record labels.

One possible explanation for the issue with Apple Music’s new releases function is that many musicians are now releasing their music as saved albums on Apple Music.
These albums don’t have a fresh hit that Apple Music can identify. Only when the full album is made available or fresh music is released as a standalone album does the notification feature function.
Apple is yet to acknowledge and provide a solution for this issue, but users can use platforms like MusicHarbor to stay on top of new music releases from their favorite artists.
That being said, we hope Apple understands the plight of Apple Music users who are not getting alerts for new releases and provides them with a fix.
Until then, watch this space and we will let you know about further developments, if any.
