Apple Music isn’t the biggest music streaming service but offers some of the best features of any music streaming app.

Moreover, Apple Music was the company’s first real Android app apart from the Move to iOS migration app it had launched for Android in September 2015.

Matter of fact, these are still the only two apps available on Android from the Cupertino tech giant. That said, there’s some good news for Apple Music users with Android phones.

Towards the tail-end of last year, Apple Music picked up support for animated covers or album artwork on iOS 14.3 and macOS Big Sur 11.1 as highlighted by reports.

Since then, the feature has remained exclusive to Apple devices, but not anymore. Apple appears to have brought over the animated covers feature to its Music app on Android with the latest beta update.

Dubbed as Cover Art Motion, when enabled, users will be able to see animations in the cover art by artists who’ve made use of the option.

A few Apple Music users who noticed the arrival of animated covers in the Android app shared the news on Reddit (1, 2, 3).

Here’s an example of the new Cover Art Motion in action:

FINALLY! Animated Covers on AM for Android (3.6.0-beta) and ironically loads faster than native app on iOS from AppleMusic

At present, the feature is limited to Apple Music users who’ve installed the v3.6.0 beta update.

Although it’s worth noting that we can see the new Cover Art Motion feature appear in the settings of the non-beta Apple music app (version 3.5.0). But the animations do not work.

That said, we’ll keep an eye out for more information and will post an update if and when we come across any further details.
