Apple had announced last month the most powerful and advanced iPad Pro ever that comes with the new Apple silicon M1.
This processor has been used on the latest MacBooks and one can only imagine the tremendous leap in performance a desktop-level processor can bring to a tablet device running a mobile OS.
Other highlight specifications of the beast include an upgraded LCD display, or Liquid Retina as Apple likes to call it, that brings a really wide dynamic range.
Then there’s obviously the new 5G support. This bit is what has been troubling Rogers user though.
Rogers had recently listed the latest 11 inch iPad 2021 M1 on their online store. However, as it stands, the carrier currently does not permit tablets to utilize their 5G network for some reason.
This is despite the fact that the carrier hasn’t exactly announced that 5G is available for phones alone and tablets are excluded.
Not only this, but Rogers has reportedly also used tablets as part of their 5G advertisements which is quite misleading.
And last but not the least, the iPad Pro 2021 listing on the Rogers store allegedly mentions the tablet’s ability to connect to the 5G network under its product features.
It’s about time Rogers gave out a reason for the lack of 5G support on the iPad Pro 2021 M1, which they thankfully now have, on the Rogers forums.
As clear from the above, the network provider currently does not have any data-only plans for tablets that support 5G. This is because the iPad Pro 2021 is the first tablet offered by Rogers that is compatible with 5G.
There is a lack of a dedicated plan for the device but it should be made available eventually as the 5G rollout expands further.
For now, the only way to connect to a 5G network through tablet devices like the iPad is by subscribing to a Rogers Infinite plan.
