However, some iPhone users (1,2,3,4,5,6) are reporting that the most recent iOS 16.3.1 update has disrupted the USB connectivity function with CarPlay as it is not working properly for them.

It appears that only cable connections are impacted by this issue. The Bluetooth wireless connections are apparently unaffected.
Moreover, a similar problem surfaced a couple of years ago and some iPhone 13 users in particular, also reported this bug.
One claims that even after updating their device to iOS 16.4 beta the issue continues to persist. Somehow, they speculate that the issue could be with the car as Android users are also facing this bug.
Unfortunately, we haven’t come across any workarounds that can help fix the issue. We hope Apple provides an update to address the bug where CarPlay is not working.
