Earlier Kadokawa had released a promotional video for P.A Work’s upcoming original anime Appare Ranman!, which featured its theme song ‘I got it’ by Japanese pop band Mia REGINA.
Funimation has just come out with the full English translated version of the promotional video, and we daresay the music is super catchy. You can check it out here.
When and where to watch Appare Ranman!
The TV anime, which is due for release on April 10, is one of the most anticipated on the Spring Anime 2020 list. Given the overall delays in production and releases of new titles in the Japanese animation industry due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is a relief to know that this one is sticking to schedule.
Those wanting to watch Appare Ranman! in English can catch the subtitled or dubbed version on Funimation this April. In Japan, starting April 10 the anime will stream on Tokyo MX, AT-X, Kitanihon Broadcasting, TV Aichi, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11.
Creative team for Appare Ranman! anime
Going by P.A Work’s official website, Masakazu Hashimoto is directing Appare Ranman! as well as overseeing the script, while Yurie Ohigashi designing characters, assisted by Shiho Takeuchi as a mechanical designer. The original character design, however, is done by Ahndongshik.
The anime has also roped in Miho Sugiura as the art director, and Satoki Ida is directing sound. Evan Call scored the music for the anime, which is being produced by Lantis.
The makers have also announced that Kenjiro Tsuda, Tetsu Inada, and Daisuke Ono will be joining their cast as characters Richard Riesman, Chase the Bad, and Gill T. Cigar, in that order.
Why such a hype around Appare-Ranman anime?
“I will cross this continent faster than anybody!”
To start with, it has a very unique setting. Set in the late 19th century, it follows the ‘wild-wild-west’ adventures the quirky duo – the genius engineer Sorano Appare and the not-so-brave samurai Isshiki Kosame – who somehow get stranded in Los Angeles.
They eventually end up entering the Trans-America Wild Race to win the prize money as sustenance to get home. And there starts their adventure. As you may have guessed, this Swashbuckler-style anime show is expected to be heavily steeped in western pirate adventure references and in aesthetics.
The summary alone brings the classic anime Black Lagoon to our minds. Only, this seems much lighter in mood. Given that it is an original anime, we have no way to predict if it would follow its footsteps or carve a niche of its own.
