Wingman – the golden pistol in Apex Legends which shreds the opponents in a mere handful of bullets is also one of the toughest guns to master.
The Wingman is the most powerful weapon in the pistol category and deals a 45 base body damage and a freakin’ 90 damage if you manage to hit those headshots. 3 bullets to the head and your enemies will be screaming for help from their team mates.
But what if you miss your shots? What if you’re not able to hit those headshots? With a nerfed base mag of 4 bullets, this weapon demands to be precise in your shots. And that’s why today we’ll be letting you in on some of the rarest secrets on taming this beast to be the champion of the arena.
As said the wingman was nerfed and its base magazine size was dropped to 4 from 6. The subsequent extended mags increase the number of bullets to 6, 8 and 10. Now, dropping down and finding this weapon early in game can be alluring, but wait before picking this beast up.
If you’re in a hot zone and you are still shaky with your aim, pick up a shotgun if available instead of this. That’ll be a wise decision. But if you’ve still picked up wingman and now you want to hit those shots and watch them drop confetti in a birthday party, so here we go –
- Be patient – The Wingman does a 45 damage on body shots. If you’re still early in a game and you’re sporting a wingman, go for the body shots, don’t be impatient and spam that trigger button and also don’t only try to hit those 90 damage headshots. Take your time, go for headshots when you’re confident about it, even if you go for body shots – 4 x 45 = 180, a total of 180 damage. Considering a normal game, you’ll have your teammates to help you. But even if you are alone, fighting an enemy with a purple shield, you will leave him no choice to fall back if you even manage to hit 3 shots out of 4. This gives you time to reload and tell them who the boss here is.
- Strafe, jump like a monkey does – The Wingman has almost similar dps while ADS. So, even when you’re ADS, strafe and jump like you normally would. This will throw off your aim a little. But with a little practice, you will land your shots. A pro tip, pause your strafe when in line of sight of your enemy, considering you lined up your shot previously, hit them while standing still, and then jump, strafe again. Also, don’t be shy to crouch.
- Find the level 2 and level 3 extended mags – The Wingman is still no good in late game fights without the level 2 and level 3 extended mags. Besides increasing the mag size, they also reduce the reload time. So, you not only get more shots but also it’s faster.
- Always carry a full auto weapon as backup – You fired up YouTube and saw your favourite streamer using this powered pistol and peacekeeper. It’s one of the most heavily aim dependent load-out. When still getting a hold of wingman, carry a full auto weapon as backup for the spray and prey sort of finish.
We hope you get better with the wingman after reading this. Grind, my fellow gamers! May the force of wingman be with you!
