New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 20, 2021) follows:

Android Auto is no stranger to bugs and issues with the Android 11 update. Some of the common bugs include no notification sounds, choppy music playback, general connectivity problems, and more.

These issues are also not just limited to a handful of devices. Rather, there are reports of various problems from almost every device be it Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Pixels, and probably others.

Now, as clear from above, Google’s November security release did claim to address some among the pool of Android Auto issues, at least on Pixel devices. However, fast forward to the present, and complaints are still doing rounds.

Currently, the trending issues creating ripples across the forums are restarts on the Google Pixels due to Android Auto and Android Auto not working at all on Samsung devices on Android 11 like the S21 Ultra.

And if all that isn’t enough, there are also a bunch of reports stating that the Waze speedometer stopped showing on the car display with the latest Android Auto updates.

Update killed waze and Google maps speedometer and GPS on Android 11 for the Samsung s21 ultra. As native apps, waze and Google maps work fine alone on the phone. Issues arise using Android auto service for waze and Google maps.

A couple of users also observed that when this happens, the only way to work around the issue is to clear the data in Android Auto, as reverting to an older version doesn’t seem to help.

Nonetheless, the good news is that the Waze speedometer issue on Android Auto has been escalated. Therefore, if all goes well, a fix should roll out soon, most probably in the form of an update.

Of course, you are free to try out the workarounds mentioned by the Product Expert too.

Moreover, the Android Auto restart bug has also been reported to the team along with the app not working issue. Hence, all the users need to do momentarily is wait.

Update (March 10)

A recent update has addressed most of these issues, leaving behind the Waze speedometer bug. According to Google, the latest Android Auto 6.1 update fixes issues on Samsung Galaxy S21, Pixel phones, and Ford F150 units.

For those affected by the Waze speedometer issue, a workaround that involves turning off location permissions to Android Auto solves the problem temporarily.

try to turn off location permission for AA which will forced it to use Waze app location permission.
