Sprint customers: Good news! Oreo 8.1 is rolling out to you now! Check your Essential Phone for the update.

Update: The roll out has begun.
Original story follows:
A couple of weeks back, Essential formally announced Android 8.1 update roll out for its PH-1 smartphone. However, users on Sprint – which is the official Essential Phone carrier in the US – are yet to receive it.
If you an Essential Phone user on Sprint, and are wondering when the update will begin rolling out, you’ll be glad to know that may happen soon. The news comes courtesy of redditor DavisJ3608, who works at a Sprint store.
He confirmed the update has already been pushed out to those Sprint Essential Phone users who had a beta build running on their unit. Further, from what they’ve been hearing, the final roll out of the update would begin by the end of the month.
OK, just did some checking. Sounds like Sprint hasn’t signed off on the OTA update, but anyone who has previously had beta software on their phone (even if they later downgraded) got the carrier-agnostic version pushed to their phones. We’re hearing end-of-month or so, but don’t have a concrete date.
So there you go, it’s likely that you’ll see the update notification popping on your device’s screen within a few days. Do let us know when that happens.
