Android 10 kernel source code released for Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, Mi 9 SE, Mi CC9, Mi 8 Lite/Mi Max 3

Some reshuffling and organizing have been done by Xiaomi in its GitHub repository. The Chinese OEM has now released the Android 10 kernel source code for Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, Mi 9 SE, Mi CC9, Mi 8 Lite/Mi Max 3 devices.

Interestingly, Xiaomi has merged the kernel source code of Mi 8 SE, Mi 9 SE, and Mi CC9. Notably, the Mi CC9 is another one of those rebranded Xiaomi phones and is a clone of the Mi 9 Lite.

As all these Snapdragon 71X powered phones have received the Android 10 updates around the same time, the manufacturer has decided to maintain a unified kernel source code.

Xiaomi is known for releasing the kernel source codes of its devices to the public as the Qualcomm chipsets are more developer-friendly and open a world of customization for the third-party developers.

Moreover, custom ROM developers can now take advantage of this unification and bring about their custom ROMs for all these devices sharing the same kernel source code, at the same time.

Keep in mind that the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition has also been placed under the same kernel tree under the branch “sirius-q-oss” (as depicted in the image above).

And while the Chinese OEM has unified the kernel source codes for the above devices, the same approach has also applied for the Mi 8 Lite and Mi MAX 3.

Both the devices have picked up their Android 10 updates around the same time. So, Xiaomi has now updated the kernel source code repository for both the Mi 8 Lite and Mi MAX 3 based on their respective Android 10 updates.
