Here’s the crux of the article in video form
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on October 20, 2022) follows:
Amazon’s Fire TV Recast is a DVR that allows users to record and watch shows tuned in by an OTA TV.
The Recast box can be put anywhere in the house within the reach of the coax cable connected to an antenna which also lets users stream live videos.
Fire TV Recast shows not recording
Lately, many Amazon users have been experiencing an issue where their Fire TV Recast is not recording shows or showing them in the ‘Scheduled Recordings’ list.
I have become unable to record a series on my recast. The series “young and restless” and “bold and beautiful “. Has this happened to anyone else? This started about a month ago. It was working fine till then.

I had two weeks of shows scheduled to record but now only one program shows on the scheduled list. But now all the programs that I set to record do not show on the scheduled list
Source
Fire TV Recast doesn’t initiate the process when users set their desired programs for recording. In fact, users get a message saying that the shows are already scheduled for the same.
Affected users have tried restarting the Fire TV Recast but to no avail. Even resetting the entire section filled with scheduled recordings doesn’t seem to help.
It appears that a similar issue troubled users in the past which was soon fixed. However, it has popped up again.
It’s also worth noting that Amazon had reportedly discontinued its Fire TV Recast over-the-air DVR. It could potentially be the reason why some users continue to face problems related to recordings.
Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, one of Amazon’s team members has acknowledged the issue and said that they are working on a solution.
We also found a workaround that previously helped some users who were struggling to find their list of recordings. So those affected now can try the same.
I discovered that if I deleted a recording using my phone’s mobile app, then magically all my recordings showed up again on My Recordings in my Fire Stick-connected TVs — temporarily, but long enough to start a play-back. If you, too, are willing to sacrifice an old recording, perhaps you can play back something from your My Recordings collection.

We hope that the developers soon find the root cause of the issue at hand.
We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article accordingly.
Update 1 (October 21, 2022)
13:25 pm (IST): According to a few recent reports, it appears that the issue only occurs when users try to record an entire series. However, recording individual episodes seems to be working fine.
For some reason. My recast has quit recording series. It can record individual episodes. Any one?

Update 3 (October 26, 2022)
06:05 pm (IST): Amazon has put up a banner on their website stating that they are aware of certain issues with their devices and services. However, it’s unclear if this is related to the Fire TV Recast.
We are aware that some customers are currently experiencing issues with certain Amazon devices and digital services. We are actively working on it. Please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Update 4 (October 27, 2022)
10:38 am (IST): One of our readers said that they have to go through all their recordings and set them to a single episode in order to record them.
And while they are recording without any issues, they have to do it every day.
I went through all my recordings and changed them to single episode. They are recording but I have to do this everyday and that is a real pain.
Thanks for the tip: Donna Guinea Ploc!
Update 5 (November 22, 2022)
01:13 pm (IST): According to one of our readers, the issue with recording on Amazon Fire TV Recast has now been resolved.
Good news….I hope. Just got off the phone with the customer service rep. Seems like they’ve resolved the issue. I tested it out and it appears that “RECORD SERIES” now puts the red dots next to future episodes (which it didn’t before).
we’ll see if it actually records. the overall customer service ticket is #v736985806 if you want to get your own status.
because amazon isn’t selling the recast anymore, i’m probably going to go with the TABLO next time this one craps out again. they’re still planning on providing support for the recast….at least for a while.
Thanks for the tip: Tim Barnes!
