Amazon Alexa is an intelligent virtual assistant that can perform tasks or provide services to a user. One can ask the assistant questions, playback media, and control or operate smart home devices.
Along with this, Alexa can also handle basic chores such as calendars, to-do lists, and much more.
However, the AI assistant has its fair share of bugs and issues as well.
Alexa ‘Disney stories’ feature not working
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), multiple users are facing an issue where the ‘Disney stories’ feature is not working on some Alexa devices.
The feature offers audio storytelling of various Disney stories, making it a popular option for parents looking to put their children to sleep or entertain them.
An Echo Dot Kids owner complains that as soon as their device begins narrating a story, it immediately cuts off. Even though they have tried listening to different stories, they still face the same problem.
Another Echo Dot owner alleges that their device goes through the usual prompts, asks what story they want to hear, but all of a sudden, glows pink and goes off. They also claim to have the most recent software updates installed.
My daughter has a echo dot in her room. Tonight we have noticed it is letting us open disney storys and pick a story but then will cut off when announcement of what story it is and wont play. Any suggestions?

When my child or I ask Alexa to open Disney stories, it starts to open then cuts off and tells us to check the link sent to our Alexa app for a refund. Disney stories is free, and I am not getting a link.

The issue appears to have popped up recently. Some have tried disabling and re-enabling skills with and without rebooting, changing Alexa’s voice, and switching Alexa to different routers but with no success.

Fortunately, Amazon has officially acknowledged the problem and is currently working on resolving it. Although, no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided.
