New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on February 22, 2023) follows:
AirPods have always been the go-to device for people seeking great audio experiences and next-level Active Noise Cancellation. I specifically enjoy Spatial Audio since it elevates immersion to an unprecedented level.
Yet, they are not immune to bugs and issues, just like any other device.
Left AirPod not connecting or showing up on iPhone
According to reports, some AirPods users are currently experiencing a problem with their left bud, which is not connecting or showing up on their iPhone (1,2,3).
When users connect their AirPods to their iPhones, the battery percentage for the right earphone is displayed but not for the left. This occurs despite the fact that both are connected to the device.
Others claim that their left AirPod does not connect to their devices at all even when fully charged.
Well, that makes the entire listening experience unpleasant as users have to use the right bud exclusively. This has caused some to wonder if it is a hardware or software issue.
According to a few users, the most recent update (5B58,5B59) appears to be the root of this problem.
Left airpod is not working. I tried to clean, reset them, and update my iPhone, but nothing is still working. Since I’m also considering upgrading, do you also experience this issue with the pros or the max?

For months my left AirPod would make weird noise and would go away, and now all of a sudden doesn’t work? It doesn’t even show up on my iPhone despite being charged, it only shows the right. I’ve tried reconnecting and anything as far as YouTube could take me. These are roughly 3 years old and aren’t under Apple care.

Troubleshooting methods like putting the AirPods back in the charging case, unpairing and repairing them with your iPhone, and cleaning the case also don’t seem to fix this issue.
There is currently no acknowledgment of this issue, and no workarounds have been identified. As a result, users will likely have to wait for the next firmware update to resolve this problem.
That said, we’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments regarding the matter.
Update 1 (March 7, 2023)
05:03 pm (IST): According to fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), some users are still facing the issue where AirPods are connecting to iPhone even after the latest iOS 16.3.1 update.
