Of late, Google Home/Home Mini users, who use the Philips Hue app to control the lights installed at their places, have been reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that on commanding their Home device to turn on/off the light of a particular room, the device ends up switching on/off all the lights of all the rooms.
The problem reportedly creeped in after the latest Philips Hue app update (June 04), and here’s how some of the complainants word it:
From yesterday when I say to Google Home “Turn on the light in Living Room” Google home turn on ALL the lights in ALL rooms. The same for turn off or other rooms… With Philips hue and Yee Lights.
I have the same problem; a few days (I noticed it after updating the hue to the latest version) when I ask to turn on or off the lights of a certain room, or change the color, performs the function on all the lights … this for me is a big problem because it turns on the lights even in the room of the sleeping girl ….
I’ve been having issues with Hue Lights since updating to version 3.0 of the software from Phillips on my phone. Lighting has been all over the place for me too.
Same problem for me. I have a fan that is not included in the Turn On All Lights routine in Smart Things. However, the if I say “Turn On All Lights” the fan turns on along with all lights.
When I turn on the lights in the bedroom, all the lights in the house light up. I use ikea lamps but on social media everyone has this problem.
The same is being reported on Twitter as well.

Following the rising number of complaints, one of the Top Contributors (on Google Home help forum) escalated the matter.
I’ve escalated this thread up let the Google Home team know that you are having issues with the lights and rooms.
But there wasn’t any follow up from them regarding the fix. Meanwhile, here’s what different users have got to hear from Google support:
I have called Google support and they told me there is a bug but they don’t know when will be resolved.
Today i called the Google Support and they told me that the problem, probably, is caused by the last updating.
It’s also worth mentioning that changing names of the rooms did the trick for some of the users.
Another issue
While Google is yet to acknowledge the aforementioned issue, a separate Bluetooth connectivity glitch with Google Home Mini recently got confirmed by the company’s official Twitter account, and here’s what they said:
We hope Google comes up with a word on the issue reported by Philips Hue app users as well. Rest assured, we’ll update as and when that occurs.
