Elon says Twitter 'For You' tab will only recommend tweets from Blue verified users, leaves many furious

Ever since Elon Musk took over the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, there has been a number of unprecedented changes to the site.

It has successfully managed to capture people’s attention, for better or worse, with the addition of new features and tweaks.

And now, Elon Musk has announced that the ‘For You’ page will only offer suggestions from Blue-certified users/subscribers, starting April 15.

Apparently, this new update is being implemented to address the bot issue, and according to Musk, it is the only realistic way to tackle this situation.

However, users aren’t quite impressed with this announcement and are therefore exhibiting their anger on the social media platform (1,2,3,4,5,6).

This is BS. Some of my favorite accounts to follow aren’t verified. FOR YOU will become mostly useless, & my unverified tweets will be seen even less. I’ve loved Twitter for almost 15 years. Elon always HAS to be the center. The way he’s inserted his greedy self has destroyed it.

Well this might kill twitter for me. The vast majority of people I read on For You are not verified. Im not at the threshold that paying for $7 has value but this might just remove the value I do have

Apart from this, non-Blue subscribers won’t be able to vote in polls on Twitter either. This is nothing but another major blow to users who still haven’t opted for Twitter Blue.

Agitated users also feel that Elon Musk is treading on the wrong path in order to tackle the bot situation. They rather advise utilizing improved AI in order to address this issue.

I don’t get behind this decision. You need to invest money into talent and AI tech to detect bots on the platform.

For a time now, people haven’t been responding well to the For You tab. And this choice is another controversial one that is receiving criticism.

Twitter hasn’t commented on the matter where the ‘For You’ tab will only recommend tweets from verified users.
