Google Pixel Watch was undoubtedly one of the much-awaited watches among tech enthusiasts worldwide. And rightly so, it is absolutely unique in the world of smartwatches with the best of Fitbit built-in.

Apart from its sleek design, it also helps track your heart rate, Active Zone Minutes, and more. However, that doesn’t mean it is always free of bugs and issues.

For instance, we previously highlighted an issue where a number of users were experiencing severe battery drain.

Google Pixel Watch charging notification delayed

And now, some Google Pixel Watch owners (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) report that the charging notification or pop-up gets delayed after attaching the charger puck.

I noticed ever since I took the March update the watch takes a long time to start charging after attaching the puck. Anyone else experience this?

After the March update, the charging screen doesn’t show immediately when the watch is put on the charger.
Not a big deal, but any thoughts to fix this?

According to reports, users are also experiencing slower charging speeds. These reports have started to emerge after the recent March security update.

Moreover, in order to confirm that the watch is truly charging properly, users are now required to tap on the screen. This could also be the reason why some are getting the impression that their watches are not charging at all (1,2).

As a result, they are now speculating that when the charging puck is attached to the watch for the first time, that’s merely a stimulation for the charger to wake up.

While others theorize that it takes a few seconds for the charging current to stabilize when using a USB-C VA meter to test a charging puck.

Potential worakround

Fortunately, we have come across a workaround that can help fix the bug where the Pixel Watch charging notification is getting delayed. It includes a force restart of your device.

I fixed this by a forced restart of the watch. Hold the crown and the button down until the watch reboots. Ignore anything that comes up on the screen – just hold those buttons until it restarts.

It seems that Google is yet to comment on this issue. So those affected can try the above-mentioned workaround.

We hope that the team takes note of this bug and provides a solution to the ones affected.

Until then, keep tabs on this story as we will update it with further developments, if any.
