Microsoft Outlook is mainly used as an email client, though it also offers other services. It is a part of the Microsoft Office suite which includes software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more.

Besides your email manager, Microsoft Outlook can also be used to manage tasks and contacts, taking notes, and web browsing. Its popularity means it’s used by many businesses and individuals around the world.

Hence, it’s a useful service that can help you manage a bunch of work-related tasks in one place. But lately, Microsoft Outlook users are having trouble when trying to access this service.

As per the reports doing rounds on the web, Outlook is facing a major outage. Users are unable to check their emails or any other info on the app or on the website.

Looking at the multiple reports, it indeed seems like a widespread issue. So, if your Microsoft Outlook isn’t loading then you are not alone, it’s down for many others too.

@Outlook I can’t check on my email because your website is not loading. I tried cleaning my cache and changing browser but I had no success. Also, I cannot log in using the desktop app. Are the servers down? (Source)

Fortunately, Microsoft is very well aware of this issue and is actively looking for a fix that should arrive very soon. Meanwhile, affected users can check the live status of this problem here.

These kinds of sudden server outages can be a hindrance at work and they should not happen more often. We hope this gets sorted out as soon as possible.

IST 12:24 pm: Well now, Microsoft says it has completed mitigation measures and confirmed through telemetry that the issue has been successfully resolved.

Update 2 (July 6, 2022)

01:44 pm (IST): Users are now reporting (1, 2) that they are unable to send emails to Outlook.com groups. Luckily, the support team has acknowledged the issue on their Service Status page and they are working to resolve it.

Update 3 (January 25, 2023)

01:18 pm (IST): Multiple Microsoft services including Teams, Outlook (1, 2) and MS Office 365 are currently down or not working for many users.

Moreover, MS Azure and OneDrive users are also facing problems. Fortunately, Microsoft support has acknowledged the issues with these services and confirmed that they are currently investigating them.

06:30 pm (IST): According to Microsoft’s official status page, the recent issue with its services including Teams, Outlook, and MS Office 365 has now been resolved.

Update 4 (February 7, 2023)

09:46 am (IST): According to fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4), MS Outlook is currently down or not working for a section of users.

10:51 am (IST): Microsoft support has acknowledged the recent outage and said that they are currently investigating it.

12:55 pm (IST): Microsoft support has confirmed that the recent outage with Outlook has now been resolved.
