Google Pixel 'notification panel shows time left instead of battery percentage' after March update & some users want a revert

Google recently released the March 2023 update for its Pixel line of smartphones ranging from the Pixel 4a to the Pixel 7 Pro.

The latest update brings several fixes and improvements in connectivity, device stability, performance, and much more.

The patch also addresses the issues which prevented screenshots from being captured in certain apps and the Wallpaper and style settings from opening.

However, the company has also made changes to the notification panel and these haven’t been well received by some.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), some Google Pixel mobile owners complain that after the update, the notification panel shows the time until the battery lasts instead of battery percentage.

One of those affected says that since the update, whenever they pull down the notification shade, it just displays the remaining battery time.

Even though they have tried tinkering with their Pixel device settings and restarting it, they could not resolve the problem.

Has anyone else’s battery percentage been replaced by the estimated time it is supposed to die within the quick access panel thing after the March update? Before it used to randomly appear, but now it’s always there.

I really preferd when it showed the battery life percentage. Like, I know I can add it to my phone screen and have it on all the time, but I just prefer to scroll down to see the percentage.

Some have even tried installing the previous version of Pixel Launcher but they claim that the old app does not work properly after the patch.

Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help solve your problem. Firstly, you cantry disabling the Device Health Services app on your smartphone in order to bring back the battery percentage.

Also, those who want the battery percentage to be displayed permanently may try toggling on the battery percentage toggle.

Alternatively, you can also install the latest Android 13 QPR3 beta 1, to revert back to the original notification panel layout.

However, those who want to install the next stable release of the Android OS may have to wait for a few months.

We do hope Google listens to the users’ demands and reverts the changes made to the Pixel notification panel.
