[Updated] Tapping on Google Pixel 7 & 7 Pro 'At a Glance' weather icon accidentally opens Calendar app, workaround inside

Google took the Android market by storm with the introduction of its Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones. They also managed to make an impression with their amazing display and camera features.

However, the devices also exhibited various bugs and issues. For instance, we previously highlighted the black screen of death issue and the bug where lock screen notifications were not showing for a section of users.

Tapping on Pixel 7 ‘At a Glance’ weather icon opens Calendar

Some Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro owners (1,2,3,4,5) have now taken to Reddit to report an issue where tapping on the ‘At a Glance’ weather icon accidentally opens the calendar.

There must be only be 1 pixel between the weather and date icons and it’s getting infuriating opening the calendar 3 times before tapping just right to bring up the weather.

Although the issue is more prominent on the Pixel 7 series, some Pixel 6a users are also experiencing the same.

Reports suggest that when someone clicks on the weather widget, it doesn’t show the temperature or weather predictions but opens the calendar. Even several attempts don’t guarantee that it would accurately perform the function.

Some users also feel that they have to tap the weather icon in a precise and specific manner in order to get the app to open.

It seems about 50/50 whether clicking the At A Glance widget will open the weather or try to open the calendar. Seems like I have to very, very precisely tap the weather icon (sun, raincloud, etc) in order for it to open consistently.

Potential workaround

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t commented on the issue yet so those affected can try the above-mentioned workaround for the time being.
