Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones are known for their high-end features and specifications. However, a section of users has been experiencing a frustrating issue with these devices.
Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro random restart issue
Reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) have been pouring in about the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro randomly restarting or rebooting on its own, even without any indication of an error.
Anyone having issues with random restarts?
Hey all, I’ve been having issues with the screen either going black or freezing requiring a reboot. This happens about once per day or more. The only things running are usually Pokemon go or YouTube or both. Any advice before I try going through warranty?

While complaints about the Pixel 7 randomly restarting have been doing rounds for some months, the problem seems to have escalated after the February update.
Several users have taken to online forums, such as Reddit and Google’s own support community, to express their frustration and seek solutions.
According to users’ reports, the device randomly restarts without any warning. In some cases, the reboot occurs after the device freezes.
In others, the phone just reboots on its own, even while the user is in the middle of using it. The problem has been reported by users across the globe, and it’s not limited to a specific carrier or region.
The random restart issue has not only caused inconvenience but is also giving users hard time using apps like Maps and Music.
Some reported that the issue debars them from listening to more than 3 songs or using Maps for more than 10 minutes.
This can be particularly problematic for users who rely on their Pixel 7 for work-related tasks.
However, Google has not officially acknowledged the issue, which has left users feeling disappointed and left to seek out solutions on their own.
Potential fix
Some users have attempted potential fixes posted by other users on forums, but these solutions may or may not be successful for everyone.
Potential fix for reboot/restart issue
I’ve been scouring the internet trying to figure out why I and many other people have been having this issue and I didn’t see anyone resolve it.
So far, I’ve turned off the “Allow 2G” setting and it has fixed this rebooting issue I was having.
Just thought I’d make a post in case someone else would like to try and see if that fixes their issues as well!

Google’s Pixel line of smartphones has gained a reputation for its software updates and security patches, which have been timely and reliable.
However, the random restart issue is a clear indication that even the most advanced software can encounter issues.
While there’s no official fix from Google at this time, the company is known for taking user feedback seriously and working diligently to resolve issues.
We hope that Google acknowledges the problem and provides a solution to ensure that users can continue to use their devices without interruptions.
In the meantime, users experiencing the random restart issue in Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro should back up their important data and contact Google’s customer support for further assistance.
Until then, stick around to see if Google provides any updates on these issues as we will keep you posted about the same as soon as they drop.
