Instagram has evolved tremendously since its inception and is now much more than simply a photo-sharing application. This is due to its continuous innovation and unrivaled user experience.

However, just like any other social media platform they are not bug-free as we have seen in the past when users faced issues such as the Reels bonus payout getting delayed, location services not working, and more.

Instagram video posts cut short to 15 seconds

Now, some Instagram users are reporting an issue where they are unable to upload videos posts longer than 15 seconds (1,2,3,4,5).

The affected users claim that after selecting the video they want to upload, they are instantly sent to an edit page where the length of the video is reduced to 15 seconds.

This shouldn’t be the case because users are allowed to share videos with a 10-minute maximum length and a 650 MB size restriction on Instagram. While 3.6GB is the maximum file size allowed for videos up to 60 minutes.

Creators and users alike have been greatly inconvenienced by this issue as they have to squeeze their content into a 15-second post rather than the full version.

Went to post a 3 minute video today, and when I chose the video, it took me to the editing window but only had 15 seconds, as if it was a story? I also tried this with a different video and it did the same thing. What’s going on?

I have been uploading videos of about 5 minutes in length for ages. This morning, it will not let me upload anything longer than 15 seconds and keeps just uploading a 5 minute video as 15 seconds. It’s doing the same with other clips and videos. What?

There seems to be a workaround to this situation as a user claims that they were able to upload video as usual from their PC:
