New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on December 22, 2022) follows:
Developed by Blizzard Interactive, Overwatch 2 is the next sequel to the first-person shooter Overwatch. It is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game and features full cross-platform play.
The game was released on October 4 and can be freely played on a majority of platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Windows, and Xbox.
As compared to Overwatch, this game features new PvE and PvP modes. It has received mixed reviews from critics.
But like any other game, Overwatch 2 also suffers from occasional bugs and issues. If you are facing difficulties while playing matches, then you are not alone.
For instance, we recently reported about an issue where Overwatch 2 players couldn’t invite their friends to matches on PlayStation.
Overwatch 2 matchmaking broken
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), several gamers are facing difficulties playing the game due to the glitched matchmaking in Overwatch 2.
Some don’t like the way in which the teams are matched against one another. Apparently, players on lower levels such as silver, gold, and diamond are being asked to fight against the ones on higher levels.
Players are reportedly being matched against masters and grandmasters. This makes the gameplay unfair and uninteresting to some gamers.
I’d be happy with a Diamond rank if their gonna keep throwing me in games with Diamond and Masters players.

Has it been awful for anyone else? I’m silver 4 after reset yet each game I go against people with diamond and master titles. Is this intended?

A player took to Reddit to express their frustration with the gameplay and was of the view that it was better to quit the game.
As of now, it appears that there is no workaround that could help gamers avoid the matchmaking problem.
Official statement
Fortunately, the developers took notice of the issue with the matchmaking process and released an official statement.
The company is reportedly working on making certain changes and tweaks to the matchmaker. This would help improve the gameplay and make it fair for everyone.
Although, it must be noted that no official ETA has been given for the time being.
That said, we will keep an eye on the Overwatch 2 matchmaking bug and update this story as we come across any new information.
Update 1 (February 1, 2023)
06:05 pm (IST): Overwatch 2 Season 3 will reportedly bring some improvements for competitive matchmaking. More on that here.
Update 2 (February 14, 2023)
04:52 pm (IST): Overwatch 2 recently received Season 3 update with several balance and quality of life changes. To know more about the new matchmaking system, head here.
However, many players are disappointed with the new matchmaking changes and consider it worse than the original system. Players say (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) that they are getting matched with high-ranked players.
So if you are a high-ranked player, you’ll dominate most games. However, if you are low-ranked, then you’ll get crushed by pros.
Note: We have a dedicated issues/bugs tracker for Overwatch 2, so make sure to follow that as well.
