New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on Jan. 12, 2023) follows:
Owned by Elon Musk, Twitter is one of the most popular social media and microblogging platforms, witnessing participation from around 30 million active users.
The platform had a timeline that aimed to show users tweets based on their preferences and the people they follow.
However, Twitter recently launched a new feature for its iOS users called the ‘For You’ tab, which is now a default tab on the timeline.
It now shows the tweets that Twitter thinks are most relevant to you based on certain parameters. The change is facing criticism from a lot of users who are calling for it to be reverted.
Twitter’s ‘For You’ tab
Reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) suggest the recent patch has sparked a lot of criticism from users who are not happy with the default ‘For You’ tab. Some users are frustrated and want the previous version restored.
@TwitterSupport @elonmusk Any way to make “following” tweets the default instead of the “for you” tweets? Not liking this change. I’m following these accounts for a reason….I want to see their posts when I open the app.

The new Twitter feed launching to “For you” sucks. Please give us the option to change the default @TwitterSupport

The update replaces the usual feed that users see when they open Twitter on iOS with the ‘For You’ section, which is an algorithmic timeline.
Several users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the change and are asking Twitter to revert the update and make the ‘Following’ tab the default instead.
Twitter’s ‘For You’ tab is designed to show users tweets that Twitter thinks will be most relevant based on your interests, engagement, and behavior.
The idea behind the update is to surface content that you might not have seen otherwise and to make it easier to discover new content.
However, many users are not happy with the change because they feel that it takes away their control over what they see on their timelines.
They prefer to see the latest tweets from those they follow and not tweets that Twitter has selected for them.
Another issue with the new default tab is that there is currently no way for users to change the settings and make the ‘Following’ tab the default instead.
.@elonmuskis the product owner that implements the function, that nobody wants. Setting “For you” as default tab with no option to change it is crime! Hate this twitter update..

This means that for the time being, you will have to stick with the new ‘For You’ tab.
All in all, Twitter’s update has not been well-received by some iOS users, and they are calling on the company to revert the change or give them an option to choose the default tab.
It remains to be seen whether Twitter will respond to the criticism and make any changes to the update as they have not yet acknowledged the matter.
We hope that Twitter takes the reports into consideration and provides a resolution to the issue as soon as possible.
Until then, stick around because we’ll be updating this article whenever we come across any developments.
