[Updated] Gotham Knights crashing issues on PC and Console trouble many (potential workaround inside)

Gotham Knights is a new action game set in the universe of the Batman franchise that combines multiple genres to try to offer an entertaining and dynamic experience.

The game has elements from the adventure, combat, action-RPG and open world genres. Players will have to choose one of the available characters from the Bat-family and enter Gotham City to face many dangers.

However, it seems that the first days of the game’s launch are a little bumpy. Many Gotham Knights players are reporting crashing issues on both PC and consoles.

Many Gotham Knights players have been unable to enjoy it due to notable performance issues (mainly crashing) that interfere with the experience.

The crashing issue reportedly can occur at any point in the game. There are reports where it happens while traveling the map or even during game boot.

Game Crashing on Launch on PC?

I’m trying to launch the game through steam. The game launches, gets a black screen for about 10 seconds, then crashes. I’ve updated drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I meet the specs (I7, 3080, 16 gb ram).

Also, the problem is not only present on PC. There are many reports about Gotham Knights crashing on consoles as well.

I love it when you spend 2 days playing and you lose all your progress due to the game crashing tons of times. Great job 👍

I can blame PlayStation more for this fuckery, I have never loss so many game saves in my entire gaming existence since playing on that platform.

It’s worth pointing out that the crashing issue even causes loss of progress. That is, once the crash occurs, your ‘game save’ file is in danger of being deleted or corrupted.

Some Gotham Knights players found a workaround to fix or mitigate the crash. However, it only works for PC (Steam version) and it involves using two command line parameters:

Two command line parameters that have stopped the game from crashing on PC for me. Obviously I’ve found this info in various places but for what it’s worth these two commands have legitimately made the game playable for me:

-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -notexturestreaming

Those command line parameters must be placed in ‘Advanced launch options’ (available from the right click menu on Steam client).

There is no official acknowledgment of this issue from Gotham Knights developers yet. We will update this story as events unfold.

09:46 am (IST): WB Games support team confirmed that the Gotham Knights crashing issue has been escalated. However, there is no ETA for a fix yet.

12:31 pm (IST): It seems that Gotham Knights recently received a new update but it hasn’t really fixed the crashing issues as some users still continue to struggle with the same.

Although the WB Games support is aware of the issue but states that there is no ETA for a fix yet.

04:45 pm (IST): Fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4) from gamers suggest that the crashing issues on Gotham Knights have worsened after the recent update.

05:22 pm (IST): Some Gotham Knights players on PC and consoles are reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that the game is crashing for them for the past few days.

Meanwhile, the support team has responded to one of those affected and suggested some troubleshooting steps to fix the problem.
