Original story (published on April 04, 2022) follows:

New Jersey Transit Corporation, often abbreviated as NJ Transit, is a US-based public transportation system that operates in the state of New Jersey as well as parts of New York and Pennsylvania.

It is the third-largest public transport system in the country. The service also features an app that allows users to buy passes or tickets and get all the available transit options.

Having said that, NJ Transit users are now reporting that the app is either down or not working. Some say that they are getting a ‘Flash Ticket Error’ message when trying to use or book a ticket.

The problem seems to be inconveniencing many people who are unable to purchase or book tickets or show their passes.

Generic solutions such as clearing app data and cache and reinstalling the app seem to make no difference.

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also had a spike in the number of reports that indicates that the NJ Transit app is down or not working.

A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys that there are many others affected by the same issue. Below are some reports from NJ Transit app users who say the app is down or not working right now.

@NJTRANSIT the app isn’t working as I cannot login to show my monthly pass. The bus driver gave me a hard time even though I showed her the email receipt of the monthly pass purchased. Luckily she let me on the bus. Hopefully the app is fixed soon!

@NJTRANSIT I would like a refund for the ticket I had to buy since your app was down. You should let your employees know when this is the case and not force the problem down to the customer

As it turns out, NJ Transit is aware of the issue and said that they working on fixing the issue where the app is not working for some. But they did not share any timeframe on when it will be back up.

Hi, we are aware of this technical issue. We thank you for your patience while our IT team is working to address this. -FG
