NVIDIA’s Portal with RTX is a recreation of the graphics of the classic Portal with complete Ray tracing and fully fresh artwork that evokes the original.
It is said that almost every frame of the gameplay is upgraded with hand-crafted high-resolution physically based textures.
However, it seems that the game is currently unplayable and partially broken due to some issues. Resultantly, it doesn’t run the game properly or even open the game’s menu.
Portal with RTX performance and crashing issues
That said, some Portal with RTX players (1,2,3,4,5) are reporting that they have been facing various crashing-related issues with the game.

Even launching the game or changing the graphic settings leads to the constant crashing of the game.
These crashes are accompanied by various performance-related issues (1,2,3,4,5,6) as well where some players get low FPS even with high-end graphics cards. It mostly gets stuck at 20 FPS (1,2,3).
The issue is quite frustrating and has also led some players into believing that the game is indeed badly optimized.
Potential workaround
We have come across a workaround that can help fix performance-related issues with Portal with RTX. You can check it out below:
Unfortunately, the developers haven’t commented on the issues yet. So, affected players can try the workaround mentioned above for the time being.
Hopefully, the team will come up with a permanent fix soon so that players can play the game without any problems.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article as and when we come across something noteworthy.
