VIZIO offers an app that allows its users to control their Smart TV from their mobile devices. It also functions as a remote, allowing users to browse their favorite TV shows, turn on/off devices, play/pause, and more.
The VIZIO Mobile app was recently redesigned, and a new button was introduced to instantly launch WatchFree+ right from the remote.
VIZIO Mobile app crashing
However, many VIZIO Mobile app users report that the application has been crashing and not functioning properly after the new update (1,2,3,4,5,6).
According to users, the app was flawless and remained virtually unchanged for years. Now it suddenly has a new facelift and all of the great functionality of a virtual remote is all but gone.
Previously, users could browse by swiping anywhere within a certain area, rather than pressing any button. This was extremely intuitive and perfect for touchscreen remotes.
This functionality has been removed in the latest update. Also, the app reportedly does not always connect to devices properly and crashes often.
lol dogshit company @VIZIO updated their device control app to show ads in the main control menu. blocking the add server with a DNS filtering service causes the app to close in less than a second every time it opens to that menu. This renders the app completely nonfunctional

Hey @vizio, how do I revert the Visio mobile app to the older version? The new version is huge downgrade (which I know you know)
Source
Users went from having two remote designs to being forced to use the less functional one. Furthermore, advertisements have been added on the remote, which has enraged many users even more.
The ad takes up 1/3 of the remote control’s interface, and in return, it has lost most of the buttons. The intuitive swipe navigation has been replaced with small buttons that are harder to use while looking at the TV.
Many believe that VIZIO should at the very least provide the option to return to the original remote interface and functionalities.
Unfortunately, the VIZIO team has yet to officially acknowledge the issue, so there is no indication that a patch will be available soon.
We hope that the developers take note of the user feedback and respond with a suitable action plan. This article will be updated as events develop.
