New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 23, 2022) follows:
Twitch is undoubtedly one of the most used streaming platforms in the world. It lets users watch content related to vlogging, cooking, making music, singing, and much more.
It also helps many earn money based on their popularity and this is where the streamer’s profile picture comes into play as it holds significance in driving potential viewers’ attention to their content.
However, it seems there’s a bug preventing users from changing their profile pictures and banners.
Twitch users unable to upload or change profile pictures
A number of Twitch users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) have taken to Twitter to report an issue that is preventing them from uploading their profile pictures and banners.
Hey @TwitchSupport is updating profiles (profile picture and banners) broken? I can’t seem to upload any new pictures.
Source
@Twitch I cannot upload a profile photo. Doesn’t matter if I try to load the previous photo I had it still will not load. Keeps giving me an error
Source
Users are quite frustrated because they have easily been able to upload pictures on other sites. But somehow, Twitch is not supporting that function even when the file is supported and within the recommended size.
In fact, it is throwing errors like ‘Could not update the profile picture, please try again later’ or ‘UPLOAD TIMED-OUT’.
Those affected have tried changing the profile pictures and banners in incognito mode but to no avail. Clearing cache and cookies and using different browsers also don’t seem to help fix the issue.
Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, Twitch support has acknowledged the issue with uploading or changing profile pictures and said that the team is working on it.
There is no workaround that can help users mitigate the issue temporarily. There’s also no timeframe for the fix. But we’ll keep track of the developments and update the article accordingly.
Update 1 (Nov. 24, 2022)
11:31 am (IST): Twitch support took to Twitter to report that the issue where users were unable to change or upload their profile picture and banners has now been fixed.
🛠️ We can confirm this issue has now been resolved!
Your previously errored images should have been uploaded, but if not, you will be able to now update your profile pictures and profile banners again!
Thank you for your patience and reports of the issue 💜
