[Updated] HBO Max 'Content not available' error on Roku when playing 'Real Time with Bill Maher'

The popular subscription-based OTT platform, HBO Max lets users watch their favorite TV content, blockbuster movies, Max originals shows, and more.

But like every other streaming platform, HBO Max also tackles with various bugs and issues every now and then.

HBO Max ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ not available

Having said that, many users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are now reporting an issue where the HBO Max show ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ is not playing or available to watch.

It appears that the app crashes repeatedly and shows a ‘content not available’ error code whenever users try to play the episode. Others get a similar error while playing the ‘Last Week Tonight’ as well.

It should be noted that this issue affected Fire TV Stick too in the past which was later acknowledged by the team. However, it is now seemingly affecting the online streaming platform, Roku.

This issue has resultantly prompted many users to take to the community forum to report about the same.

No official acknowledgment

Roku hasn’t officially acknowledged the issue yet but replying to one of the users, they said the following:

Unfortunately, there’s no workaround at the moment that can help fix the issue temporarily so those affected might have to wait indefinitely for the team to come up with a fix.

We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article as and when we come across noteworthy information.

12:57 pm (IST): HBO Max support team confirmed that they are already aware of the issue where Roku users get a ‘content not available’ error message. However, there is no ETA for a fix yet.
