New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 10, 2022) follows:
Modern Warfare 2 has been available for some time and supports cross-platform play on all platforms. The Call of Duty franchise has come a long way since its initial focus on same-generation gameplay.
PlayStation gamers can toggle this function on and off, giving them the option of whether they wish to compete with players from other platforms.
COD: Modern Warfare 2 crossplay toggle on Xbox and PC
However, COD: Modern Warfare 2 players are now demanding the ability to turn off crossplay on Xbox and PC as well (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
For some strange reason, the developers opted not to provide PC and Xbox gamers the ability to toggle crossplay on and off. This feature was seen in the beta but was not included in the final release.
This has left them upset with the choice, as they believe that playing against PC players will put them at a significant disadvantage. Likewise, PC gamers despise encountering console players since they have aim assistance.
Furthermore, it is easier to cheat on a PC than it is on a console. As a result, Xbox players get irritated when they encounter cheats in the game who are playing on the PC.
What went into the decision of removing a crossplay toggle for Xbox? It was on MW2019. The UI overall is just not good. Worst part is the camo selection. Overall enjoying the game just some head scratching decisions

I just want an answer as to why you are forcing crossplay? I know there was an option to change it when the game first released and I’m sure a lot of console players want to have that option back.

The plausible reason behind the unavailability could be the long queues that players will have to wait in order to play a match. This problem impacts a wide range of games, therefore Bungie may have made this decision to mitigate it.
It’s worth pointing out that when the developers disabled crossplay in Modern Warfare (2019), it resulted in longer queue times for players and affected the whole player base.
To summarize, the demand for a feature available to PlayStation players is not unreasonable, so developers should consider at least testing it out for Xbox and PC players.
