The video-meeting or video-call services sector offers multiple alternatives. One of the most popular is Microsoft Teams that is especially focused on the professional field.
In the recent past, users of the Microsoft tool have already reported some issues. For instance, the problems with wireless headsets after an October update or the blank camera feed, among others.
Now, some Microsoft Teams users are upset that GIFs are missing or not available for their chats.
Microsoft Teams GIFs missing or not available for chats
In addition to video and voice calls, Microsoft Teams also allows ‘traditional’ chat. The service’s chat system supports virtually all types of media, including GIFs.
However, for a few days now, some Microsoft Teams subscribers have not been able to use GIFs in conversations as they suddenly disappeared from the options.
Gifs missing in Teams Chat
I am on Version 1.5.00.28567 and the Gifs option at the bottom is missing. It is missing for other users in my organzation too.
It is activated in Teams Admin Center / Messaging policies / Global (Org-wide default). On the client under Settings/Privacy ‘Optional connected experiences’ is enabled.

Official acknowledgment, potential workarounds
Fortunately, the Microsoft support team is already aware of the problem and working on a fix.
In the meantime, there are some workarounds that have helped some Microsoft Teams users get their GIFs back.
First, you can try to disable Giphy in Message Policy at the org level from the Microsoft Teams admin center, then re-enable it and wait a few minutes.
What fixed it was going into the Teams admin center and turning off giphy in message policy at the org level, then turning it back on and waiting a few minutes for the client side to get the memo.

If you still don’t have your GIFs available, check the following Teams settings:
the AutoUpdateFunctionTestMPAC was checked instead of Global (Org-wide default) I checked it, and went in and made sure delete messages was checked and Giphy and delete ability was restored.
