Apple’s PowerBeats Pro completely wireless Bluetooth earbuds came out in 2019. The presence of ear hooks on the PowerBeats Pro ensured a better and secure fit than the AirPods.
Many people still use the PowerBeats Pro nowadays across multiple devices but an issue has been spoiling their experience lately.
As per multiple reports, Apple PowerBeats Pro users have been facing a problem where the earbuds are shutting down randomly.
User reports indicate that the PowerBeats Pro randomly shuts down while in use even though they have battery available.
Multiple users have also pointed out that this occurs within minutes of using the PowerBeats Pro. Also, plugging them into the charging case shows one of the earbuds battery level at 55% (exactly), while the other one stays in the 80% range.
Left Earbud… 55%…shuts down saying that it has run out of charge.
I thought my earphones were not working properly or something. Now I understand that it’s a broader issue since so many of us are facing the exact same thing.
There’s got to be a firmware solution for this.

Same issues. Right one first started disconnecting with the low battery warning sound at 55%. All devices on latest IOS. Reset and paired several times. No use. Drained both earpieces and the case to 0% and charged all devices back to 100%. Surprise surprise, now right one disconnects at 85%!! I was getting about 20-30 mins before from the right one. Now disconnects in a few minutes.
I am in India and the device is out of warranty. The service charge for these is so high that the service center dont bother coming in, just buy new ones. Bizarre. Other than complaining about it in this forum I don’t have anywhere else to go. 🙁

This issue has been troubling Apple PowerBeats Pro users since at least March 2021 and the tech giant has not been able to rectify it so far.
Users are unable to use their Apple PowerBeats Pro for longer duration because they are shutting down randomly and there is no workaround for this problem yet.
Moreover, it is possible that this is software-related problem as many users have been reporting about it even after getting the affected earbuds replaced.
It is a firmware issue. It just happened to me, after 5 minutes of play, the left one went off, 0% battery, and when I placed it in the case, it immediately went up to 55%. It’s charging now, and the right one works perfectly, 8 hours of battery on that one.

This is happening to me too. Started a couple of months ago. Almost certainly a software/firmware issue because I had no problem with them before this.

If that is actually the case then it might be possible for Apple to fix the issue with future iOS updates as they also include firmware updates for the PowerBeats Pro.
However, all this is still based on speculation as Apple has not made any comments on whether the issue is indeed related to software or hardware.
Hopefully, Apple gives the aforementioned problem a serious look and resolves it in future iOS updates if it is indeed software-related.
That said, we will report back with more details as and when we get new information to share so stay tuned.
