New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on August 17, 2021) follows:

HSBC UK is a popular banking platform used by many Android and iOS users. Not long ago, the HSBC UK iOS app bagged an update to version 2.39.1.

However, users of the iPhone have been facing login issues with the HSBC UK app after the latest update.

@HSBC_UK HSBC app not working on my phone for days now. It doesn’t let you log in and I can’t access internet banking as that requires a code from the app.

@HSBC_UK please sort your app out. I’ve had no access to my bank account for almost a week. I have no way to pay my credit card bill and I need to know how much money I have left. #not good enough

As per multiple reports, the HSBC UK iOS app is constantly crashing at the login screen after the 2.39.1 update.

While most reports about this issue are from those using iPhone models running versions of iOS 12, those on iOS 14.7.1 and even iOS 15 beta are also facing the same.

This further indicates that the crashing problem at the login screen might indeed be with the HSBC UK app and not related to iOS versions.

@HSBC_UK For the past week my Hsbc app has not worked. Just crashes on the first screen. IOS 12.5.4. App v2.3.9. Help please

However, this is still based on speculation as HSBC UK support has only acknowledged the issue for iPhone models running iOS 12 versions.

Also, support has further said that the relevant teams are looking into this problem and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.

It is, however, unclear how long it will take to address this issue as no ETA has been provided by HSBC UK support.

Hi there Zoe, we are aware that our HSBC UK mobile app v2.39.1 is crashing for customers on iPhones with certain versions of the operating system iOS 12. This is being investigated by our mobile teams and will be resolved as soon as possible. (1/2) ^Kri

Moreover, there is currently no workarounds for this problem which is further adding to Apple users’ dilemma.

While apps like HSBC UK are meant to simplify banking for users, the latest update is doing the exact opposite of that.

Hopefully, devs soon release a proper fix for this crashing issue so that iOS users can access the app without any hassle.
