New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on August 05, 2021) follows:
The Poco M3 is one of the most attractive phones you can lay your hands on at its price point. Its textured, grippy back panel not only gives a premium look and feel but also keeps the phone totally smudge-proof.
But perhaps its greatest feat in the design department is its camera module which although eats up a huge part of the back panel, also has an odd appeal to it.
An awesome design isn’t the only feather in the cap of the Poco M3 though as you also get impressive hardware specs for its price like a 6000 mAh battery, 48 MP camera, and a Snapdragon 662 processor.
However, there is one particularly bothersome issue that has been ruining the phone’s otherwise near-perfect experience. There have been several reports [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8] about the phone’s Wi-Fi strength being below par.

As clear from the above complaints, the Wi-Fi icon on the status bar of the device mostly shows one or two bars of signal strength, during which the Wi-Fi works annoyingly slow or even keeps disconnecting.
This happens despite the router being situated quite near the device. Users have reportedly already tried basic workarounds like restarting the router, rebooting the phone, and resetting network settings to no avail.
While several device owners have blamed the Android 10-based MIUI 12.0.7 update for the Wi-Fi problems on the Poco M3, there have been other complaints about other MIUI versions as well, so a single update is difficult to isolate as the culprit.
Still, judging from reports, it does seem like the issue wasn’t present in the device out-of-the-box and only began following a bad update.
From this, it is easy to conclude that it is a software problem and not hardware-related, and is thus nothing that can’t be fixed with software updates.
However, we are yet to come across any official acknowledgment for the issue, so it’s unclear as to when an update with a fix for the Wi-Fi signal woes will be making its way to the Poco M3.
Regardless, we will continue tracking the matter and will be updating our MIUI 12 bugs and issues tracker accordingly, so stay tuned.
Update 1 (August 28)
The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth strength issues on the Poco M3 have been noted by a Poco Community moderator who says that they’ll be escalating the matter to the concerned team.
Hey, noted, will report it to the team
