Apple is gearing up for its upcoming line of operating systems including macOS 12 Monterey. However, some MacBook users running macOS Big Sur have been facing a problem lately.
As per several reports, MacBook users are getting the Global Reset error message every time they restart their device.
It seems this problem started occurring after the update to macOS Big Sur and has been inconveniencing users for some time now.
Basically, the MacBook hangs when rebooted and shows an error message before it reboots. Once the system boots up again, the Global Reset error message comes up with the GRC0 = 0x00000400 and GRC1 = 0x00010001 error codes.
Users have tried generic troubleshooting like resetting the MacBook and reinstalling macOS to no avail. However, some reports indicate that this problem might be related to peripherals connected to the MacBook.
A user tried to figure out the root cause of this problem and said that it occurs when two secondary displays are connected via the Thunderbolt port.
Also, using MacBook with one or no secondary display does not lead to the Global Reset error. This was further confirmed by some other users as well which indicates that the issue might indeed be due to software and hardware conflicts with peripherals.
However, this is still based on speculation and nothing is clear as of now since Apple has not made any comments on the matter.
Moreover, users are even facing this problem even after the macOS 11.5.1 update which clearly suggests that Apple might not be aware of this problem at all.
So, if you are also facing this problem on your MacBook running macOS Big Sur, it might be due to multiple secondary displays.
Hopefully, Apple takes notice of this issue and resolves it in the upcoming versions of macOS so that MacBook users can use peripherals without any hassle.
That said, we will report back with more details as and when new information becomes available so stay tuned.
