Paramount Plus is the latest service to make its way into the video streaming service niche. Instead of focusing on streaming existing content, the service is focusing on making original content.
Nonetheless, the Paramount Plus library also consists of several classic movies and shows such as Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Big Brother, CSI Miami amongst many others.
The video streaming service’s library will only grow over time, with more and more existing and new shows becoming available.
Having said that, the service has had some hiccups over the recent past, with some users reporting that they were unable to turn off the narrator when watching Evil season 2 episode 5.
Now, Roku device owners are having an issue where the audio and video don’t sync when watching Paramount Plus.
While the issue is only relevant when watching CBS Live, the audio and video get more out of sync the longer you watch.
Since last Monday 5/3/2021, the live tv feature of the Paramount+ app has video lag the audio. It starts out in sync and then the video gets behind. Before last week, it worked great. Looks like a new version of the app was released on 5/2/2021.
Streaming everything else on this app works fine. Streaming live content in other a apps work great. Tried multiple audio settings, removing the app, rebooting Roku, reinstalling the app. No help. No problems for a year until 5/3/2021. It’s a Roku3.

I’ve been having major audio/video lag issues with Paramount+. And only the “live TV” part. The feed starts in sync, but then the video lags by 5-20 seconds. I do not have this issue with any other Roku app. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and the system is updated. This occurs on both of my Roku devices.

We want to remind you that this is not the first time the audio video sync issue has appeared on Roku. Back in 2019, users reported the same issue on different apps.
However, this time, the bug only seems to be affecting Paramount Plus. Users indicate that the problem is from Roku’s end since CBS Live seems to be working fine on other devices such as the Amazon Firestick.
On the contrary, Roku says that channels on Roku are maintained and updated by the channel developers themselves since Roku just provides a platform on which developers can create their own channel.
Users say they have contacted Roku regarding the issue but haven’t heard from them in more than a month.
We hope Roku acknowledges the audio-video sync issue and works with Paramount Plus to resolve it as soon as possible.
