New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on July 27, 2021) follows:

The stable MIUI 12.5 update has now made it to most of the eligible Xiaomi devices including many of the budget ones, at least in China.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Chinese smartphone behemoth’s now independent sub-brand Poco.

While Poco isn’t exactly too far behind, update rollouts for its devices are typically given a lower priority when pitched against Xiaomi devices with similar specs.

As a result, several budget devices like the Poco C3, Poco M3, Poco M3 Pro 5G, Poco X3 are yet to get a taste of MIUI 12.5. The update brings improved performance, minor UI tweaks, privacy enhancements, and a new Notes app.

And even if the update does release for a device, there are delays in rollouts for its regional variants that sometimes even span several weeks.

Take the Poco X3 NFC, for example, that bagged the MIUI 12.5 stable update recently while its non-NFC Indian variant is yet to get a taste of it.

But what if we told you that the MIUI 12.5 stable update for devices like the Poco C3, Poco M3, Poco M3 Pro, and Poco X3 can be availed much before they’re rolled out for all?

This has been made possible for those interested through the Poco Stable ROM Testers program. Previously, its members enjoyed the Android 11 stable update weeks before it rolled out for regular users.

And now, MIUI 12.5 stable is being seeded through the program for testers before everyone else.

A good example is the Poco X3 NFC, the official MIUI 12.5 stable update release date for which was said to be early August. However, those part of the Poco Testers program have already begun to receive it.

Now, recruitment for the program was thought to be closed months ago. But a community mod has just revealed that they’re still accepting applications.

Thus, feel free to head over to this link to submit your application. But if you wish to look into what all is in store for you through the Poco Testers program, then you might want to check out the official forum post for the same.

Once signed up, don’t expect the update to roll out straight away for your device. Good things take time after all. But you are still guaranteed to be treated to the MIUI 12.5 update before most Poco device owners.

Do keep in mind that while builds released through the channel are stable daily drivers, they may still contain minor bugs that somehow managed to slip under the radar of Chinese beta testers.
