Widevine L1 is something we always get to hear these days be it from smartphone brands, YouTubers, bloggers, and tech publications. It is the buzzword among entertainment and tech enthusiasts.
After all, it matters to a lot of people in order to binge-watch web series & movies. To give a brief, Widevine L1 is the security protocol a device should have in order to stream at maximum resolution.
And while many brands boast about their device being capable of streaming at the highest quality, more often than not, users end up being unable to do so.
This is because devices have to be whitelisted from the streaming services end as well such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. That’s exactly what’s NOT been happening with Poco devices recently.
Poco phones such as Poco X2, Poco F1, Poco X3 Pro, Poco M2 Pro having Widevine L1 support are not able to leverage the full potential of the streaming quality on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
There are various scenarios for the same, such as losing Widevine L1 support an update or didn’t support it since the beginning itself such as with Poco F1.
With tons of complaints from the users over the past few weeks and months, Xiaomi and Poco executives are looking deep into the matter and investigating the exact root cause of the issue. A fix for the same has been confirmed.
The users and Poco community are contributing and cooperating with the officials by providing them with bug reports and logs through ‘service and feedback’ found in the settings app of MIUI.

This way, it would certainly be a big help to the engineers over at Poco and Xiaomi to pinpoint the issue and roll out a fix as soon as possible to the affected devices.
Poco and Widevine L1 certification issues go a long way. You ask how? That’s because Poco F1, as you know a breakthrough device in terms of value it provided for the price which sold like hotcakes.
That device didn’t have any Widevine L1 support which raged the buyers of the device considering it had all the flagship hardware at that time i.e. Snapdragon 845.
Since then, a lot has changed such as a massive inclination towards online streaming content, an ever-growing smartphone userbase, and of course a boost in watch hours since the pandemic hit the world.
All this has made people aware of the importance of Widevine L1 support on smartphones thus always looking forward to which device is fully supported to stream at maximum quality.
