Original story (published on June 18, 2021) follows:acknowledged them recently saying that they’ll be making fluency and stability this year’s top priority.
And now, the OEM has formed a new MIUI Pioneer Team that will closely work with users and the Mi Community to polish the MIUI experience.
Sure, the team is based in China, but it will be working on improving both global and Chinese versions of MIUI.
Nonetheless, it is evident that the team has already been put to work as a Q&A session was organized by them on June 16 to take feedback from Xiaomi users and answer some of their most sought questions.
While most of the discussion revolved around overheating issues plaguing several Xiaomi devices, it is how the company is planning to tackle the problem that truly is extremely interesting.
The post talks about a new intelligent frame stabilization technology that will prioritize frame rendering to ensure a more stable FPS in games whilst also reducing heat.
As for non-gaming scenarios, the devs are working on performance modes for MIUI. There’s a “Balanced Mode” that will intelligently switch the resolution and refresh rate depending on the foreground application.
This mode will be enabled by default for all users. But performance enthusiasts will also be given a dedicated Performance Mode that will prioritize smoother operation at the cost of increased heating and battery consumption.
A new scheduling tech called TurboSched is also being developed for more efficient management of background processes and apps to improve battery life and reduce abnormal heat.
As for when all of the above is going to be made available, well, the intelligent frame stabilization tech has already been added to most devices that are powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip.
And the MIUI balanced and performance power modes are currently under internal testing but are expected to go live sometime in August this year, at least for the Chinese MIUI version.
All this comes while a huge chunk of eligible Xiaomi and Poco devices has still not been updated to MIUI 12.5. Still, Xiaomi has already given out an update timeline and things are going quite according to plan so that’s great.
Update 1 (July 16)
