Poco M2 Pro Android 11 & MIUI 12.5 update expected by end of July, says community mod

Poco devices typically receive Android as well as MIUI updates after their Xiaomi counterparts and the Poco M2 Pro is no different.

The device has seen plenty of software update woes in its life time. We previously highlighted how Poco M2 Pro users were frustrated by the lack of new updates and delays with MIUI 12.

And now, it’s almost as if the history is repeating because the Poco M2 Pro is yet to get a taste of MIUI 12.5 even after its Xiaomi counterpart – the Redmi Note 9 Pro was slated to bag the same sometime in late Q2.

This comes after several older devices from the Redmi Note series including the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and even the Redmi Note 7 being treated to MIUI 12.5 stable, at least in China.

Heck, the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro recently also got updated to Android 11, something the poor Poco M2 Pro somehow still lacks.

But that is all set to change really soon. A Poco Community moderator just gave out an update ETA in response to a query from a curious user about the MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 updates.

Yep, as you can see from the above comment, the Poco M2 Pro is allegedly set to bag MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 by the end of this month.

While the mod hadn’t really clarified if their statement was in reference to MIUI 12.5 or Android 11, it is likely that they were referring to both the updates being released as one.

Although, they could also just be referring to an Android 11 update. This is because the Chinese variant of the Poco M2 Pro – the Redmi Note 9 Pro – is yet to bag stable MIUI 12.5 in China.

And even if the Chinese Redmi Note 9 Pro does receive the MIUI 12.5 update this month, then it is highly likely that it will take several weeks for the same to finally hit the Poco M2 Pro.

This assumption is in accordance to previous update patterns where it takes several weeks or even over a month for a MIUI 12.5 stable update to hit the global variant of a device after the Chinese variant gets it.
