The new Control Center introduced with MIUI 12 may have brought a unique interface to the Android world, but has been riddled with issues since its debut itself.
Sure, the utility has received numerous fixes and tweaks in the past including a new 5G toggle, Google Home controls, and brightness slider improvements.
But the fact remains that the Control Center is still quite a mess, particularly in the budget end of the spectrum, where complaints of lags are commonplace.
Xiaomi was forced to thus disable Gaussian blurring on the Control Center and replace it with an ugly grey background. But this brought little to no improvement in performance.
And now, as if the existing issues weren’t enough, several Xiaomi and Poco device owners are now having to put up with some new ones following recent Android 11-based MIUI 12 updates.
After update to MIUI 12.1.2 on Mi 9T, when pulling down the control center on lock screen, the background colour becomes many layers (low bit colour) at low brightness. But when brightness is increased, it becomes normal again. Please fix this issue with the next update.

After updating my POCO X2, just opened up my control centre and the screen froze. There was no touch response. I restarted the device several times and whenever i open the control centre the screen just frozes.

As clear from the above complaints, the Control Center sometimes glitches out during which its elements appear to overlap each other and the background loses its blur.
When this happens, the utility gets stuck and becomes unresponsive for several minutes, as per users.
Others have also complained that the Control Center blur sometimes appears in a weird pixelated manner. Some have even reported that it misbehaves when performing the gesture to pull it down.
Fortunately, if you are one of the users facing such issues, or particularly the one where the MIUI Control Center gets stuck, then you will be relieved to know that the issues are known.
This means that Xiaomi is likely to fix the stuck Control Center issue with future updates. While the response of the moderator was for a query pertaining to the Redmi Note 9, it is not unsafe to assume that a fix is in the works for other devices as well.
