New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on June 19, 2021) follows:

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro has seen plenty of delays when it comes to Android 11. First confirmed to have entered the testing phase back in December last year, the Android version never really made it to stable for the device.

Last week, a Mi Community moderator acknowledged the hold up saying that it was due to adaptation issues and that Android 11 did not meet the company’s OTA upgrade standards for several phones including the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

However, the moderator also revealed that the MIUI engineering team had moved the models affected by the delay to the highest priority development channel to speed up the update process.
