New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on June 15, 2021) follows:

Android 12 is well on its way to a stable release, at least for Google’s own Pixel lineup later this year. The road to that is an iterative one with new public beta builds being made available to those that are part of the program on a monthly basis.

The latest as of now is Android 12 Beta 2, and just like all the previous betas and developer previews, this one’s also added a bunch of new stuff to the table.

Some of it includes new animations for the Settings app and the YouTube PiP mode, support for app icons theming, status bar indicator for ongoing calls, Privacy Dashboard, and much more.

But of course, considering that the OS version is still in its beta testing phase, bugs and issues are only inevitable.

We previously highlighted how users on the latest beta are reporting inconsistent accent colors and a bug that causes the navigation bar to get stuck in portrait mode.

And now, there have been several reports saying that notifications on the Android 12 Beta 2 lock screen get stuck and refuse to go away even with the usual swipe gesture.

This seems to be affecting some users only and occurs intermittently. When it strikes, users are forced to unlock the device in order to dismiss them through the notifications panel or perform a reboot.

Some have even said that when the issue occurs, all other lock screen gestures like trying to pull down the notification shade or swiping to unlock the phone fail to work as well.

Thankfully, the bug has been marked as fixed on the Google Issue Tracker which means that the next beta build, or Android 12 Beta 3 to be precise, should arrive sans lock screen notification swipe problems.

But that’s not all. The next beta should also come with an improved volume panel.

The current implementation has volume controls that are not spaced properly from each other. And on landscape mode, the slider has no background.

These too have been marked as fixed on the Issue Tracker so let’s just wait for the upcoming beta updates.

Update 1 (June 24)

02:30 pm (IST): The Android 12 Beta 2.1 update just went live with fixes for the lock screen swipe issues.

Fixed an issue that prevented users from accessing things on the lock screen. For example, swiping down for the notification shade, swiping away notifications, or swiping up to unlock the phone.
